“Something…a robot or something…robot…robot…robot…I am haaaaaving diiiificulties concentrating Phillip…Phillip,” she said, breaking into a mechanical tone. Since I already knew by this point that she was a robot, I decided not to interrogate her. Obviously she was made to be unaware of her nature, so I decided to make her current situation blow over as smoothly as possible. “I know, try and relax and it will be over soon,” I said. “Okay…kay…kay…error in primary coolant systems…error in stabilization sub-processor…this unit is overheating…this unit will power down in 10-seconds…Phillip, if I black out, I want you to keep me comfortable…This unit is powering down and will not power up until all problems have been fixed…Phillip….” She said, my name near the end coming out as a long mechanical drone. In the seconds that followed her power down, I could hear various systems shutting down within her body. Lastly, the perspiration on her skin slowly started to get absorbed back into her skin until she was almost completely dry. “Wow, it looks like I will be testing out my cybernetics skills a bit early than I thought,” I said, looking at her motionless body. |
