Surrogates is a 2009 American science fiction action film, directed by Jonathan Mostow. Based on the 2005-2006 comic book The Surrogates by Robert Venditti and Brett Weldele, it stars Bruce Willis as Tom Greer, an FBI agent who investigates murders that happened through the titular surrogates, remote-controlled better-than-life humanoid robots that have become the norm for interacting with the rest of the world.
Most of the people on-screen are actually surrogates, and are suitably played photogenic people that had their skin digitally smoothed for an extra artificial look. Multiple female-shaped surrogates are prominently featured, including an older, less realistic model. The film also features a scene at a shop where inactive surrogates are being sold, a faceoff scene, and several inactive surrogates charging in booth can be seen throughout the movie.
