A faceplate or sometimes facemask is the external human-like front cover of a fembot's head. The denotation of the face as a faceplate usually means that it can be removed, detached or otherwise opened up in some way. Often times, especially in works from the 1950's, 60's and 70's, the removal of a faceplate (termed by the community as a "Faceoff scene") is a method of revealing the character as a fembot.
