Whirring sounds
Whirring sounds are an auditory effect produced by motorized equipment as it moves. This sound can be used in TV, movies and other fiction to strongly convey that a character is a fembot. In gynoid related fiction and media, whirring sounds can occur when an android moves its limbs, or when a panel is opened. This type of plot device is very effective in enhancing the artificial effect of a character, and it is often used in conjunction with robotic motion.
