FYOP/Scenario Chamber/The Witch and the Warrior/0020
The warrior-bot leans heavily upon you as you cross the chasm-spanning bridge, and despite your certainty that the seemingly bottomless depth below you is an illusion created by display screens, you find it easier to avoid looking down. As you draw closer to the tower the warrior bot seems to lose more of her strength, until you struggle to hold her upright, each step more difficult than the last while her own feet scrape across the rocky ground.
You reach the tower’s iron-clad door, panting and sweating, and she whispers, “Just… get me… across the threshold…”
Shouldering what feels like all of her weight, you lean into the door to have it creak open before you, and you drag her into the tower. Suddenly the burden of her is lifted as she stands on her own, rising up to her full, impressive height. “Thank you,” she says, her restored strength coming through in her voice.
Catching your breath, you look around you to see a black and green stone foyer lined with statues of beautiful nymphs in exultation over their curvaceous anatomy. Each is chiseled in diaphanous slips that seem almost ephemeral despite their stone construction and distinguished by some aspect of nature, one decorated in flowers, another whose ankles end in dainty hooves.
“Follow me,” the warrior woman instructs you, walking down the hall. “And watch for the witch’s trickery.”
“Trickery, Skena?” a voice of honey and malice calls out in mock offense. “You mistake what is only intended as hospitality!”
